What’s Your Excuse for Not Being Successful in Life?

Posted in Self Improvement Resources at 10:27 am by admin

Excuses! Excuses! When we fail to do something we are expected to do, we almost always have an excuse for it. However, if we analyze it closely, an excuse is a self-destructive alibi for having failed to do something, especially when it involves attaining a goal. Instead of trying to persevere in finding ways to continue achieving a goal, some of us resort to excuses.

Even a handicap cannot be used as an excuse. Many handicapped but determined people have become achievers and champions. Instead of using a handicap as an excuse, let us turn it into an asset. Let us explore this further.

A handicap need not be a reason for failure. On the contrary, a handicap can be a reason for success. People with a handicap always have an offsetting strength that allows them to overcome problems better than others.

A person with a handicap has one obsession - to lead a normal life. Depending on the handicap, a person would prefer to be as independent as possible. So he struggles and finds ways to overcome his impediment. When he is able to achieve his goal, this raises his self-esteem. In turn, he inspires others.

Everybody has handicaps in varying forms and degree. That is why; it requires effort and determination to overcome them. Handicaps can either be physical, financial, or emotional. And they can either be real or imagined.

Whenever we look at a handicap, we almost always look on the negative side only. It’s about time we take a look at the positive side of it. The positive side may be the difficult side, but it’s the one worth looking into. It’s the side that is going to lead us to excel in life.

If you think your handicap is physical, like having a weak body, you can counteract this through proper diet and training exercises. As long as the physical parts of your body are intact and mobile, there’s no reason why you cannot make it strong and useful. Why? Even those without a leg (for example) can be made to walk or run normally. With the advancement of science, artificial legs can help a handicap function with great mobility.

It your handicap is financial, then the more reason you have to rise above your present status. And if your financial status limits your educational attainment to improve your life, the school is not the only place to learn. Certainly, there are help centers to get you started even from zero level. Once you are initially warmed up with the basics of an education, the rest is up to you. Make use of libraries. Once you are educationally equipped, use your brain and come up with creative ideas to improve your life.

If you are emotionally disturbed with negative thoughts, it is like you are sitting on a chair with wobbling legs. Try sitting on a chair with sturdy legs; meaning, look at the bright, positive side of life. Put aside negativity and start thinking positively. The only one who can stop you is yourself.

If your handicap is a combination of any of the physical, financial, or emotional type, congratulations. You should strive more to overcome them, because a double layer of perseverance results to more than double the achievement. Where the odds are greater, the prize gets much bigger. After all the efforts you have exerted, the prize of success shall be a well-deserved one.

So what’s your excuse for not being successful?

The Seven Keys to Motivation

Posted in Self Improvement Resources at 3:20 pm by admin

Motivation. It’s a complicated subject that is studied by
many and understood by few. Virtually every aspect of
human life — from the mundane to the life-changing — is
guided, swayed and altered by motivating factors.

For instance, what to have for dinner may be motivated by a
desire to lose or gain weight. Whether or not to attend a
business seminar may be motivated by the speakers,
location and cost. When and where to buy new clothing may
be motivated by a long list of personal preferences as well
as the changing seasons and weather conditions.

Even reading this article is a motivated behavior. Do you
like the style of writing? Are you curious about the subject
matter? Do you have a desire to learn new information? Do
you have enough time to finish reading? If the answers are
no, you probably won’t continue reading!

But since you have continued, you are obviously motivated.
You want to learn more about how to get and stay
motivated, and how this motivation can help you become a
better business owner.

THE BUSINESS OF MOTIVATION
Motivation is one of the most powerful driving forces in the
workplace. It can mean the difference between tremendous
success and failure.

Motivation stems from two sources. The first part of
motivation is external or extrinsic (outside the person)
sources. Other motivating factors come from internal
forces, which are mainly your thoughts, patterns and
collective experiences.

However, humans are unique, so what motivates Jack will
not necessarily motivate Jill. You — and only you — will be
able to determine what works.

Take the time to examine what internal and external factors
are motivating you as a business owner. What can you do
to enhance and refine your motivation to make yourself
more productive and more fulfilled?

Here are seven keys to motivation that may prove helpful.

1. INSPIRATION
Inspiration is critical to getting and staying motivated. If you
are not interested in your business, your motivation level will
never be high and you won’t be able to sustain interest for
very long.

On the flip side, if you are energized and excited about the
work you are doing, you will have more persistence, energy
and intensity.

Take an honest look at your inspiration level. Are you
excited about going to work or is it an obligation? You would
be surprised at the number of people who choose a
business that looks good on paper, but in reality does not
interest them in the least. These individuals will grow
weary
and uninterested pretty quickly because they have no
inspiration or passion to sustain them during the difficult
times they will encounter as a small business owner.

If you don’t really enjoy your work, then think how you can
re-focus your small business to better match your needs.
Or consider making a change entirely. That’s pretty drastic
advice, but inspiration is that important.

2. SETTING GOALS
Short and long-term goal setting is vital for any business
owner. If you didn’t set goals, you would be adrift with
nothing to strive for and no charted course to follow.

How could you possibly be motivated if you were unsure
about the direction of your company?

Take the time to put your goals in writing. A business plan
may sound daunting, but it is really nothing more than
goals, strategies, implementation and a budget. Write your
own business plan and update it at least annually. Include
“mini-goals” that can be accomplished in a matter of hours,
days or weeks as well as the more ambitious “grand-goals”
that may take years to complete. Refer to this plan
throughout the year.

But can a business plan really help motivate you? Yes!
Written goals will make you feel more professional and
certainly more connected to your business. It will also free
you from having to reinvent your business goals every single
day.

3. NETWORKING
Another key factor in getting and staying motivated is
networking with other small business owners. One person
can’t move huge mountains. However, when a number of
people begin working together the mountains are suddenly
only small hills — simply challenges waiting to be
surmounted.

In fact, the isolation of working alone is of one the most
difficult parts of being an entrepreneur. Mutual support is
motivating. So, make it easier on yourself by connecting
with others either in your community or online. Even when
businesses are not related, you will often find common
ground and ways to work together.

Many successful entrepreneurs report that finding the right
networking group was a turning point in the growth of the
business. Working together, a networking group can help
its members generate more qualified sales leads and solve
problems faster and more efficiently. Sharing ideas,
expertise and experience is also an invaluable aspect of
networking groups. And, don’t forget about sharing costs,
possibly by buying in bulk or with joint marketing projects.

Your own personal team of business owners will help
re-energize you when the burdens of running your own
business seem too much. With your networking team to
rely on, you can accomplish more in less time and probably
have more fun in the process. Certainly, you will feel less
alone.

4. REWARD YOURSELF
Small business owners will always have to work hard, but
all work and no play is a huge mistake. Your motivation will
soon begin to fall if you never take any time away from the
demands of running the business.

So, plan frequent rewards for yourself. No, it doesn’t need
to be a trip to Hawaii (although this is a great idea). Your
reward can be as simple as a lunch out with an old friend, a
matinee with your significant other, an afternoon of
shopping or a relaxing massage.

If your budget and time will allow, take a few days off for a
short trip or simply schedule a vacation from work for a few
days. Make it a real vacation — even if you don’t leave town —
so no checking email, voice mail or the fax machine. You
need to get away, unwind and renew yourself. This “down”
time to regenerate will help improve your attitude and
perspective. It sounds corny, but you will come back to your
business with a new sense of motivation.

5. EXERCISE
While it isn’t always immediately apparent, there is a
powerful connection between the mind and the body. It is
vital for every small business owner to take breaks and
exercise — everyday. If your body isn’t healthy, your
motivation will certainly suffer.

These exercise breaks don’t have to be huge blocks of time,
and you needn’t spend money joining a gym or hiring a
personal trainer. Start by walking briskly for 30 minutes
before, during or after work. After you have incorporated a
walk each day, then try doubling the time or doing two walks
each day.

Whatever works for you is best, but the important thing is to
start. You will begin to feel better.

After the walking is part of your routine, add some basic light
weights. Buy a tape or go online to find out how to properly
use the weights so you won’t injure yourself.

You can keep the weights under your desk, and use them
for just a few minutes at a time. Buy a timer the next time
you are at the grocery store. Set the timer for for three
minutes to start and then add a minute or two until you’re up
to 10 or 15 minutes each day.

Some small business owners have a television at work and
they schedule a CNN break along with their weights. This
way, they are catching up with world and local news while
simultaneously getting some moderate exercise.

8. ORGANIZE
Organization is critical to motivation. How can you feel good
about your work, when you can’t find important papers or
you are constantly late returning messages? Your
business will falter and your motivation will suffer.

Some people just can’t get organized. If you are one of
them, then consider bringing in someone — a business
friend, family member or professional — to help you get the
clutter and mess cleaned up. You will be amazed at how
this one important step will help you get back on the
organizational track. Don’t stop there. Now really get
organized by creating business systems that will help you
streamline your operations.

The real challenge will be keeping yourself on track by
maintaining these systems. For many, it is a daily
challenge, but if you use your organizational systems you’ll
be free to think about other important issues.

7. MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS AND AUTHORS
As small business owners, it seems we are bombarded
with motivational ideas and materials– tapes, books, CD’s,
seminars, workbooks, videos and more. Why are there so
many different motivational products, authors and
speakers? Because people are buying these materials.
Used effectively, they are effective and therefore they sell!

However, there are so many different motivational gurus that
it is often difficult to see through the clutter to find someone
that makes sense for you — someone who can get you “fired
up” about working and improving your business.

Try talking to your mentor or networking group members to
see who they might recommend. Start being aware of the
motivational industry and how it might help you become
more enthused and positive about your business. Do some
light research of your own to find some authors and
speakers that interest you.

Before you invest in motivational materials, you can probably
find some inexpensive ways to obtain the materials. Check
out your local library, tune into your local PBS station, buy
materials with a networking friend, visit used bookstores or
buy used materials online. Don’t make a huge investment,
because you will probably want to sample many different
viewpoints.

But do these materials really work? Yes, but only if you
make the effort. Just like exercise, you have to work the
muscles — in this case your mind muscles.

It is up to you to take that information and apply it to your own
life and business. Really use the motivational ideas over a
period of time and you will begin to see results.

KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING
Motivation is what moves us forward in our daily and
business lives. Take the time to examine your motivating
factors and use some of these keys to improve your focus
and renew your enthusiasm. If you keep on track, the
motivation momentum can’t help but carry you forward.

How To Handle An Embarassing Moment

Posted in Self Improvement Resources at 3:35 pm by admin

It turns out size does matter! It’s not the size of your faux pas, it is the magnitude of your reaction. Three times this week, I’ve observed some truly embarrassing situations. In two of the cases, the offender made a simple apology held their head high and moved on.

In the third situation, the faux pas was smaller, but the reaction was louder, less mature and accusatory. Which mistake do you believe will be remembered?

When someone handles a mistake with dignity, it is a simple reminder that we are all human. It’s humbling and we instantly feel empathy.

Oh, but it turns ugly once blame and drama enter into the picture. If forces us to magnify the mistake, to look at it through a microscope and run the embarrassing moment over and over in our head. It becomes a mini movie.

Handling a faux pas with dignity lets everybody off the hook. It lets the moment pass and rids our observers of the empathetic embarrassment we all feel in an awkward situation. It takes the focus off of the awkward moment and puts it onto your recovery in the situation.

Spend some time today observing someone you admire. Chances are, they’ll make as many mistakes as the rest of us. The difference, they’ll learn from them, move on, apologize promptly when necessary and shake it off. If the faux pas is truly egregious, they’ll write a note, send flowers or make a call later…what they will not do is make us all participate by standing around waiting for the moment to pass.

Today’s affirmation, “I am in touch with my humanity and the humanity of others. I’ll learn from my mistakes, quickly rectify the situation and move on. No slumping shoulders or averted eyes for me. I’m in life to learn the lessons not to add to the drama.”

Mindfulness and Tango: Passion and Possibilities

Posted in Self Improvement Resources at 12:08 am by admin

My husband and I went to see a
production of “Forever Tango!” presented
at the Angela Peralta Theater just two
blocks from our home here in Mazatlan.

After all, since we’re moving to Argentina
in July, we need to learn more about tango,
which was born in Buenos Aires back in
the late 1800s.

It was a great show–passionate dancing,
stirring music, spectacular costumes. But I
wanted to know more about how this dance
form started, so I did a little research on the
history of tango.

Despite the fact that we tend to consider
tango to be a dance performed in high
society while wearing gorgeous dresses,
the roots of this dance are decidedly
low class.

In the 1880s, Buenos Aires attracted
immigrants from around the world–Germans,
Italians, Africans–as well as those moving to
the burgeoning city from the pampas in the
Argentine countryside. These new arrivals
brought their cultures with them, and as
the lonely working men and women longed
for companionship as well as a bit of home,
a new form of music, dance and culture
evolved.

Though many still argue the exact origin of
the word “tango” it is generally considered
to be derived from a word describing the
drumming music of the African immigrants.
The Germans added the accordion, and a
new craze in European dancing–a scandalous
new position in which the man actually
rested his arm on the back of his woman
partner!–trickled into the gatherings of those
who were alone and seeking a way to release
their despair and express their passion.

The only women in Buenos Aires willing to
dance in this provocative style at that time
were the prostitutes, so tango was developed
by immigrants looking for love in the
houses of ill repute. Later, men actually
practiced dancing the tango with other
men so they could become skilled enough
to impress the wealthy European ladies
who made visits to the exciting, prosperous
country of Argentina after the turn of the
century.

In fact, Argentina was so wealthy at
that time that those in Paris and London
would refer to someone with considerable
means as being “rich as an Argentinean.”
Tango became a dazzling form of
entertainment among the rich and
famous of Europe, and eventually this
higher status was conferred upon the
smoldering dance in its native Buenos Aires.

Of course, there are plenty of examples of
dances that were once considered too risque
for the general public–the Charleston, the
twist, hip-hop–but few have risen from
the lowest class to the highest in such
spectacular form.

“What does this have to do with
mindfulness?” you are asking.

Well, everything.

You see, tango was embraced–eventually–
once people were able to view it in a
new way. The same bawdy dance carried
out in dark brothels in Buenos Aires was
considered sophisticated and daringly
modern once it was dressed up and
presented at Paris cocktail parties.

Mindfulness helps us see the world in
a nonjudgmental way. It inspires
creativity as well–we can see
possibilities that wouldn’t be so obvious
if we were looking through that veil of
judgment.

What if you DIDN’T consider this particular
thought negative? What if you DIDN’T see
that particular practice as scandalous?

What if you saw the world–and yourself–
as simply full of possibilities?

Learning to watch our responses is a lot
like dancing the tango–we need to be
fully present. We need to be brave
enough to look really, really closely.

If we don’t focus, we’re likely to
get kicked in a rather personal place.
If we are tuned in, we will flow
effortlessly with little resistance and
tremendous grace.

Mindfulness helps us move through life
with awareness, creativity, and a
certain flair that says
“I’m paying attention.”

Glittering dresses are optional.

Lose Your Mind and Come to Your Senses

Posted in Self Improvement Resources at 10:30 pm by admin

Back in the 1960’s, a famous psychologist named Fritz Perls used
to say, “Lose your mind and come to your senses.” It is only in
recent years that I understand the profound wisdom inherent in
that message. I now know the most important step we can take in
our spiritual evolution is to stop identifying with our minds,
so we may align with our Spiritual Essence.

When we “lose our minds” we do, indeed, come to our senses. The
present moment of our lives becomes infinitely richer and more
satisfying. We are able to access deep peace and inner
stillness, even amidst chaos and confusion. We feel more
connected to our inner guidance, as we inhabit a clear space
within us, uncluttered by thought, in which abundant insight and
creative inspiration are easily received.

What Does It Mean to Stop Identifying with Your Mind?

First, it means you recognize that you are not your mind. As
Eckhart Tolle says, you are like the sun, while your mind is
like the flame of a candle. Your mind is a valuable tool for you
to use, but it is not who you are.

Second, it means you stop allowing your mind to run the show.
Left to its own devises, your mind will keep you busy 24/7 with
its incessant thinking. Most thoughts are useless distractions
from the one thing that really matters–the present moment. When
we take back control of our minds, we get to decide how and
where to direct our own attention, and we can choose to engage
our minds when it is helpful to do so.

Third, it means you stop practicing spellbound thinking.
Spellbound thinking is one way your mind maintains control of
your thoughts, and activates your negative emotions. As I write
in Breaking the Spell of the Past, spellbound thinking is:

–repetitive, automatic, and self-hypnotic; –negative,
judgmental, and catastrophic; and –focused on regretting the
past or worrying about the future.

Chances are you have been thinking the same spellbound thoughts
for ten, twenty, or even thirty years. These limiting thoughts
first emerge in childhood when we experience unpleasant or
traumatic events. By the time we are adults, thinking the same
self-defeating thoughts has become a bad habit.

Isn’t it time to stop playing messages in your head like, “I
will never be good enough,” “No-one can be trusted,” or “I don’t
deserve to be happy,” because of something that happened years
ago? Spellbound thoughts will only stop when YOU press the off
button! They are useless, and only keep you from enjoying your
life TODAY!

How Can You Stop Identifying with Your Mind?

Here are the steps:

1. Begin by watching for the following three signs of spellbound
thinking:

Sign #1: You feel terrible. Generally, if you start to feel bad,
your mind just fed you a spellbound thought. You may feel
guilty, fearful, anxious, sad, angry, resentful, or just uneasy.
These thoughts are so habitual that we sometimes aren’t even
aware we are thinking them. Your negative emotions are your best
signal that spellbound thinking is going on, whether you have
been consciously aware of it or not.

Sign #2: You are dwelling on something that happened in the past
that bothers you. It is likely to be the same incident or series
of incidents that your mind revisits on a regular basis.

Sign #3: You are worrying about some future event. Worry is
catastrophic thinking–imagining the worst possible outcome to a
current or future situation. Our minds tend to excel at
catastrophic thinking.

2. Once you recognize that you are engaging in spellbound
thinking, consciously and deliberately BRING YOUR ATTENTION BACK
TO THE PRESENT MOMENT.

There is not a lot for your mind to do in the present moment,
which is why your mind is so fond of keeping you stuck in the
past or dwelling on the future. Each time you bring your
attention back to the Now, you align with who you really
are–your Greater Self.

3. Be vigilant and willing to bring your attention back to the
Now again and again.

Your mind is clever and tricky. It will look for new ways to
capture your attention and regain control. It knows how to hook
you. It will assure you that it is only trying to help you–to
make you a better person. It will warn that without your
spellbound thinking, you will be hurt, make a fool of yourself,
or become a terrible failure. Paradoxically, those things are
most likely to happen to you while you are under the spell of
your negative mind!

4. Be gentle with yourself.

It is important to refrain from criticizing or judging yourself
during this process, for that is just the mind sneaking in the
back door. In fact, each time your catch yourself engaging in a
spellbound thought and you manage to refocus your attention to
the Now, there is much to celebrate, for you are choosing the
path of awakened consciousness.

Motivation: Change Can Start Out Slow and Then Pick Up Speed

Posted in Self Improvement Resources at 12:12 pm by admin

Do you know how to get the changes in your life that you desire? Here are some powerful suggestions for making changes.

Sometimes change can start out slowly and then pick up speed as momentum builds and builds.

Kaleidoscopic change

Remember the kaleidoscopic you played with as a child? Each time you turned it, there was a little bit of movement, and then the whole picture changed.

Sometimes it takes hanging in there during the little changes to get to the big changes.

Change requires focus

Although change can happen quickly, there are times when it takes much more focus to create change.

Several years ago the clutch went out on my two year old car. After the repair, the mechanic asked me a few questions about how I drove. I discovered I was a champion clutch rider. If there was any opportunity to have the clutch in, it was in.

So there I was, with 20 years of driving experience, having to pay conscious attention to changing something I did by habit.

As I focused on learning how to drive differently, it occurred to me that I really did not have to change.

I could still drive the car the same way I had been, and it would get me where I wanted to go. I would just burn out a clutch every two years.

It was time to change.

How to Create Your Ideal Life - Excerpt from Individual Power

Posted in Self Improvement Resources at 4:11 pm by admin

When I lost it all, I felt powerless. During my darkest hours, I wrote letters to God asking “why?” I received answers in writing.

If you have either lost it all, or you are not passionately thrilled with your life, here is how you can turn it all around. It is easy!

If you stop to consider what’s on your mind most of the time, I think you’ll find that your thoughts focus on those areas of your life that you are not happy about.

People who have achieved self-love and who are fulfilling their life’s passion in their work reached joy only by going through a process that was fraught with self-doubt, fear, insecurity, rejection, low self-worth, pain, and hard life lessons.

I compared myself to others who were successful and wondered, “What is wrong with me?” I wondered, “Why is my life like that of a person with a Ph.D. driving a cab?” I would look at women I admired and ask myself, “Why are they successful, fulfilling their dreams in joyful, prosperous careers, while I am struggling?” I questioned myself. I searched within. I wrote letters to God pleading for answers. And I received those answers in writing.

In our universe there is little physical proof about how to achieve the manifestation of our dream life. We have been so conditioned to live trusting just our five senses that we ignore the strongest sense of all. That sense I will refer to as “instinct.”

You instinctively know your potential. You feel frustrated because you sense there must be a better way. Your feelings and senses are right.

On the other hand, you are scared to death of the unlimited power and potential you have within. Your past is your comfort zone because it is the only way you know. Your unconscious negative thoughts - your complaints, worries, doubts, anxieties, fears, and insecurities - are part of that comfort zone.

But your soul, or instinct, knows all you are capable of. Your instinct trusts that you deserve and will receive what your heart truly desires.

So you have a little battle going on inside: self vs. instinct or soul. Your heart, soul, and instinct say: “Go for it! You can do it. You were born to succeed. You deserve the best. If you want to travel to the other side of the world, you can!” So you then feel inspired or excited.

But your self steps in and says, “Are you crazy? How can you travel to the other side of the world when you don’t have enough money to buy food? Be realistic. You’re a dreamer. This is impossible. Stop fantasizing. Get back to reality.”

Does any of this sound familiar to you? Does your heart tell you one thing and your head another?

Do you feel deep within that you are in this life for a specific purpose, and then does your logic tell you otherwise?

Do you truly believe that one person has the ability to fulfill his or her dreams, and you do not?

Do you have a talent, gift, or inborn ability in a certain area? I would venture to say the answer is yes. Are you using it? Developing it? Exploring the possibilities or experiences you can create in your life because of it? Or, do you avoid that area all together because it is scary to go there?

If you avoid fulfilling your inborn potential, then you avoid your life purpose. You avoid what your heart wants the most: your ideal life. This is the reason for your frustration, fear, doubt, anxiety, illness, worry, and pain.

I will give you a major indicator as to what is winning in your life: self or soul. If it feels good and right, it is right, and that is your heart and soul winning. That is your true essence coming to the surface. When your head jumps in and tells you every reason why what feels so right is logically so wrong, then your self has won and has pulled you back into your old comfort zone. Then you stagnate and, as a result, you feel some form of pain.

The answer to how you create your ideal life is to do what you feel excited about doing.

You follow your heart, soul, conscience, and that “still small voice” within that guides you, which is your instinct. You form a picture in your mind of your ideal life, and when you feel excited, you keep reinforcing that excitement with the assurance that you can be, do, and have all you picture.

As soon as you feel out of your comfort zone, expect that your head will jump in with every doubt, disbelief, criticism, negative view, impossibility, and impracticality to pull you right back into the old version of yourself and your life that you are now striving to outgrow.

“As you think, so you shall have.”
That saying is true. But another saying, “Seeing is believing,” is not - as least not when it comes to creating the life you want. For that purpose, you must turn the saying around: “Believing is seeing.”

You have to picture it - whatever “it” is - mentally. Only then will you receive it. When you picture your ideal life, day in and day out, somehow your subconscious mind cannot distinguish between past and future. It focuses on the exact picture you hold in mind, the one you have the most feeling for.

Now, I actually did this in the form of a treasure map. This is an empowering and powerful tool you can use to create and manifest all that you desire in your life. The process is actually quite simple, and it’s fun, too.

Take a pile of old magazines and cut out pictures of everything you want to be, do, and have. I mean, get down to business. How do you really want to look, feel, and be? What exactly do you want to own? Where precisely do you want to travel? How do you really want to spend your leisure time? What does your ideal mate look like? How do you want to contribute to the lives of others? From the magazines, cut out the pictures and words that will form a large, detailed picture of your life. Your ideal life, your dream life. And don’t hold back. Go all the way!

When I did this, I was a student in school, broke and struggling, but very excited about creating a brand-new life for myself. One of the pictures I cut out was of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. I had always wanted to go to the Middle East. I thought it would take many years for me to get there. Six weeks after creating my treasure map, I was standing in front of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.

That was the picture that I had the most feeling for, so that was what I manifested first. The treasure map works! The universe is not void. Our thoughts do have power. That which we focus on, we draw directly to us.

You can’t simply will it, like some sort of forced mind control. That won’t work. You have to genuinely believe in what you want to bring about in your life. The most important factor in the process is your feeling of excitement about what you want to see come into your life. Once you have true inner belief, conviction, and natural excitement, the key to receiving what you wish for is to let go. Let go and trust that you will receive all you desire, simply because you deserve to receive every joy you can conceive.

I do understand that letting go is the hardest part. But when you look at this treasure map, day in and day out, and you see in those pictures the ideal life you want, somehow, bit by bit, the pictures become your reality.

In my case, perhaps because so many of the pictures seemed to be out of the realm of logical possibility at the time, I did not expect to achieve my desires quickly; I was not too attached to having them become manifest right away. Each picture represented a genuine want, but how could I be emotionally attached or feel desperate about something like a trip to the other side of the world when I barely had money to buy groceries? Perhaps my lack of attachment kept me out of my own way.

When we hold on too tightly, we instill fear instead of the faith or belief or self-worth that needs to preside. Every one of us deserves to have it all in our lives. Why should someone else have it all and not you?

In a nutshell, DECIDE to create every thing and experience you want. Picture it. Know when it feels right, and exciting, it is on its way to you. Expect it!
