Thai Lanterns Big Hit at Yee Peng
Asia is incessantly filled with celebrations, many of the most brilliant of which happen in the South East. Not amazingly Thailand is the place of Thai Lanterns and are now reaching a far bigger audience as they increase popularity at UK events.Yee Peng festival which follows the Buddhist Calendar and translates to month 12 is one of these festivals. The Western Calendar normally sees this striking in November. This Festival goes by the title of Loy Krathong through other parts of Thailand. Many traditions are watched during this festival by the Thai people.. My favorite action is the liberating of ‘Thai Lanterns’ or ‘Khom Loy’. It is truly magic to respect the sky alight with these glowing orbs. Thai people trust that the leaving lantern is companied by any woefulnesses. A happy and fulfilled life is said to be described by the lanterns fire leading in the dark. I am not sure if westerners hold the comparable notion but every twelve months see’s many joining in on this fun event. The Thai Lanterns are biodegradable and are constructed from Rice Paper and Bamboo for structure. Flight time is about 12 minutes and the Lanterns are notable to reach up of 1100 feet! There has been a rise in the popularity (excuse the pun) and reduced airtraffic and airport warnings about potential turbo damage have even been issued by the Royal Thai AirForce.
