Diamonds Are For Evil

Posted in Jewelry Infos at 9:28 pm by admin

The task of executing successful advertising campaigns for products made
exclusively for women is understatedly tempestuous. Any Average Joe consumer
would relay the message that feminine product commercials put him under a great
deal of stress and discomfort. Any Average Joe Consumer dreads the Vagisils,
Cotex’s, Summer’s Eves, and Monistats of the world. There is just something about
that viscous blue fluid dripping onto a Maxi Pad that gives us all that tingly feeling
right before we want to be sick. However, there is another product that creates the
same feeling in a more subtle, increasingly malignant fashion.

Diamond retailers advertise, advertise, and advertise. Expensive jewelry stores seem
to be in every mall, strip mall, and shopping center, and we wonder how it is that
these stores thrive. The answer is this: Venus and Mars, love and hate, and women
and men. The diamond industry plays on the tensions between men and women like
Beethoven’s fingers on keys.
“Every kiss begins with Kay?” Come on. If the only reason to kiss your husband is
because he bought you something, then the issue of your relationship is even larger
than the rock on your finger. Diamonds are forever saying ‘I’m sorry.’ If the only way
a woman can be shown that you would “marry her all over again” is to give her an
even bigger diamond in some market square in Paris, then your wife needs to be
shown the front door.
Men hate diamonds. Men buy jewelry when they are apologizing or when they have
no other option for a anniversary, birthday, Mother’s Day, Christmas (fill in any
occasion here) gift. Jewelry is when flowers are not enough, and every single
diamond retailer knows it, and thus knows that men will pay.

How does this make the female consumer appear?

The advertising for feminine
hygiene is a necessary evil that reveals a vulnerability in all consumers, women and
men, but advertising for the diamond industry maliciously creates fools of us all.

Men appear to be desperate and women appear to be demonic. What can be done to
improve this dynamic?

What can be done to convey a more honest and meaningful
brand face for diamonds? Well, perhaps it is time to consider more so why men and
women love each other as opposed to why they need to buy each other gifts.

How To Restore Old Jewelry

Posted in Jewelry Infos at 9:12 am by admin

Over the years you can acquire a lot of jewelry. Some of it you may not wear very often, while some of it might be appropriate for everyday where. So what do you do with the rest of it? Here are some ideas for you.

1. First, get all of it cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner at a jewelry store. This will help restore its luster and may revive an old piece you had fallen out of love with.

2. Next, separate the pieces you own into three piles: The pile you always wear, the pile you wear on special occasions, and the pile you never wear. For the last pile, don’t feel badly about putting jewelry in that pile. Just because you probably won’t wear it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have sentimental value for you. Very shortly you will find a way to enjoy it. But just hold on and let’s deal with the other piles first.

3. With the first pile, the pile you always wear, you can keep them in a place that is convenient for you on your dresser. If there are pieces that you rotate, and you’re concerned that they may go missing if your house were ever broken into, consider getting a hidden compartment safe built into your home. For example, get a safe that looks like a regular electrical outlet where you can keep your regular jewelry away from an intruder if they were to get in.

4. With the second pile, the pile you only wear on special occasions, identify if you wear them with a certain outfit. If you do, put them in a plastic bag and put the bag in the pocket of that outfit. That way, you don’t have to worry about it until it comes time to wear the outfit, then you can pull out the bag and put on the jewelry.

5. With the last pile, the pile you likely won’t wear, there are a few ideas you can use. First, you can find great joy in giving the jewelry to someone else, like your daughter or a special niece. Jewelry is beautiful and sentimental but is made even more special when passed from one person to another. For some of the other jewelry, take it to a frame store and see if they can put it into a shadow box. You’ll be amazed at some of the things they can do with frames and shadow boxes and will really make your special jewelry even more special, and available for everyone to enjoy!

“Mickey Mouse” Martial Arts Technique Gives You An Enormous Advantage During Knife Fights

Posted in The Online Dojo at 8:24 pm by admin

Want to know a quick and easy way to fight with a knife (or similar weapon) that gives you an almost immediate advantage over almost anyone you fight — even if you have no idea what you’re doing?

Just use what I like to call the “flashlight” technique.

And that means, when you’re fighting with a knife or similar object, you pretend the knife is a flashlight and you follow your opponent with it just as if you were constantly shining a light on him.

In other words, when your opponent moves, you keep the “light” on him.

If he goes left, you point your weapon at him as he moves left. If he goes right, you point your weapon at him as he moves right. Just like if you were holding a flashlight and were keeping the light on him.

I realize this may sound like kind of a “Mickey Mouse” fighting strategy, but I assure you it’s not.

By keeping your “light” on your attacker, you keep him within range and you prevent him from pulling any surprise moves on you. And as an extra “bonus” you will probably frustrate the guy at the same time and cause him to make mistakes.

Anyway, this is very easy to practice on your own.

Just find someone to train with for five or ten minutes with this (I recommend using black magic markers, whoever gets marked up three times loses) and you will be giving yourself an enormous advantage over other people who do not know about this simple technique.

Thinking of Using Hit Exchanges to Boost Your Adsense Revenue? Think Again!

Posted in Traffic Management at 7:00 pm by admin

So, you’ve added Adsense to your site and you are getting a few clicks. You could be thinking to yourself, How do I get a massive amount of visitors to bump up my earnings? If you’re anything like me, you hear those stories about webmasters that have added Adsense and are already earning five figure incomes per month, and you start to see the dollar signs.

So you start brainstorming. You come up with a few ideas: email marketing, ebooks, trial software, etc. The thirst for Adsense dollars (and maybe a few affiliate dollars) is your main drive. Pushing massive amounts of traffic through your site can give you quite a thrill ride.

Then along comes the well known email that markets the traffic exchanges. If you aren’t familiar with traffic exchanges, it’s really very simple. You see, you sign up for their service (which often times is free) and your website is put in a list. The way the free traffic works is that you surf the web using their browser, browsing sites that are in their directory (or list) and every 30 seconds you can refresh to a new site. As you continue to do this, it builds up credits for your account that you use for other people who are using their browser to see your site.

It’s a cyclical service. You see their site, they see yours. And since you can have as many browsers going (among the many traffic exchanges) as your computer can handle, you can theoretically build up a large quantity of hits on your site in a relatively small period of time.

It seems like a great thing, and for many it fills a very necessary niche, so I can’t say that the traffic exchanges are a bad service. I would use them in anything else that I am doing. I would, however, make a very big distinction.

First, I know and respect the techs at Google and I know that when they make a new program for their visitors and webmasters to use, they make it for the benefit of everyone. That is the case with their Adwords and Adsense programs, both targeted to helping webmasters make money through advertising (albeit the opposite ends of the scale).

So when I put an ad on my website, I know that I am offering a service to the advertiser (through Google) to reach their target market. And ethically, I should only be paid when I provide that service (someone clicks through that ad to their site). There are extreme ethical problems if you were to use traffic exchanges with the Adsense program to try and cheat the advertiser out of his hard earned dollars.

Plus, if you haven’t figured out by now, Google knows what you are doing. They have specific ways of knowing what a legitimate impression is, versus what is a hit generated by a traffic exchange. Your numbers quickly dwindle if you use a hit exchange and you run the risk of being kicked off the program.

Plus, often times you have to go through two websites wasting a full minute of your time before you get one hit directed to your website. Building up over time, it eventually it all adds up.

Take, for instance, the “surf contests”. This is where they tell you who has racked up the most surfing in the week. These numbers are huge… up to 10,000 page loads. When you add it up, that’s over 84 hours of one week that is taken up trying to earn an extra 1,000 hits on your site. Not very worth it to me.

The best way to use the Adsense program is with a website that you have that is established and has a constant stream of visitors going through it. That’s the goal of the program, make money off of an existing site and its content.

Why You Can’t Get 7,312 Visitors A Day and I Can Using Viral Marketing

Posted in Traffic Management at 8:56 pm by admin

Now I have been asked by many people to reveal some of the greatest traffic generating, viral marketing techniques that I know of. Usually I am not to quick to reveal them because I know the majority doesn’t even take action on them.

Why is that? Do they think that these techniques don’t really work? Are they afraid of success? Who knows. All I know is that they work and you should know this too.

Let’s get to them!

First of all you need to know this…you don’t want raffic.

What? No you want targeted traffic. There is a huge difference! You want to get people that are interested in what you have to offer right? If I visit a site on womens shoes I would not buy a thing…but send me to an internet marketing site on viral marketing and I am sure to buy.

Now that you have that strait ;) My first and foremost form of traffic comes from the search engines…yeah I know SEO sucks. There is no getting around it. If you have to spend hours upon hours optimizing your website and getting link partners just to gain a few ranks, it is hard work.

So here is a little shortcut that I take. First of all I write articles just like this one. Not only do I write articles but I also do press releases. This method is a great form of viral marketing. Here is what will happen…you submit your articles to directories and within just a few weeks you will have hundreds of backlinks to your site!

How is that viral? Well, you need to write the kind of content that people will pick up. You see, people are always on the look out for good content right? There is no shortage of it out there but if you write really good content yours is likely to get noticed.

People will pick up your content, post it on their website, send it out in their newsletters, and bam…you have tons of targeted traffic. I just launched a site for the internet marketing and viral marketing crowd and used this very same technique. The result? The site went from a page rank 0 to a page rank 4 in less than 2 months!

What’s really great about this is that I only submitted 1 press release and 2 articles! What if I did more? Yup, you guessed it…my page rank will keep going up along with my traffic and search engine rankings. All because of viral marketing.

So now you have 2 great things. Good seo and great exposure by doing something that takes maybe 2 hours.

My next favorite technique will take a bit more time but none the less, it works like crazy! Pick your subject, write a short 20 page e-book, package it in pdf format and allow people to give it away!

The real key to using this method is to write good content. Make it look nice. Viral marketing is about giving incentive to pass along your message. So allow the people giving your book away to insert their own affiliate links into it! Heck you can even write a press release to let people know you are letting everyone give away a free book!

These are just two of the many viral marketing techniques that I use to gain massive traffic to my websites. Of course there are hundreds more but if I gave them all to you here I would be out of business ;)

The History of Rings

Posted in Jewelry Infos at 5:04 pm by admin

During the Medieval period is when rings became popular. All classes of people wore rings from the poorest to the richest. Rings were typically made of iron, copper, silver, and gold. The material of the ring worn usually indicated the class of the wearer. It wasn’t until around the 14th century that faceted jewels appeared in rings.

Some cultures have rings typically associated with them. Cultures such as Native Americans use silver and turquoise in their jewelry. Early Christians used the Greek symbol, the Icthus, which resembles a fish.
One of the best known is the Irish Claddagh that also has an intriguing story attached to it. Richard Joyce was among the crew of a fishing boat from the village of Claddagh, Ireland that was captured, he was to have been married that very same week. During slavery Richard Joyce was put to the trade of Goldsmith-ing. Through the years of capture neither married. Richard Joyce created a ring for his love with a heart for love, a crown for loyalty, and two hands.

After Joyce escaped capture, he returned to the village of Claddagh and was overjoyed to see his love again and to know she had never married. She always knew he would return to her. He gave her the ring that has become known as the Claddagh ring. If the Claddagh is worn on the right hand with the crown inward (toward the wrist) the heart is not yet committed. If it is worn on the right hand with the crown turned outward the wearer is committed to someone. Finally if it is worn on the left hand with the crown outward it means “Let our love and friendship reign forever, never to be separated.”

Rings are worn for a variety of reasons including adornment. There are rings given as a reward for a job well done such as the Super Bowl victory.
They are given to represent commitment as in engagements and marriages. Women religious to signify their commitment to God also wear rings.

Rings can be made of almost any material now. They can be made from plastic, silver, gold, or copper, even wood. They can be made of ceramic materials as well. They can be of simple design or something as intricate as filigree.

Choosing The Perfect Engagement Ring

Posted in Jewelry Infos at 7:01 pm by admin

Choosing a ring isn’t really as simple as pointing to the one in the window that looks prettiest. Jewelry, especially a diamond is a major investment just like buying a house or a car. There are a few things that you need to know so that you get a stone that is not only beautiful to look at; it is also a true gem of value beyond sentiment.

Just like you may need the assistance of a good mechanic to help you check out a car before you buy it, you may need the help of a good gemologist or an honest jeweler to help you find your special gemstone from among the many pieces out there. Like any industry they have their own jargon. You don’t need to learn all their terms but you do need to become familiar with the four C’s of a diamond’s quality.

Cut is the first and most important C in choosing diamonds. There are two aspects that determine a diamonds cut. The first of which is the shape of the stone. This aspect is quite literally the geometrical shape that the artisan has chosen for the stone in order to bring out the most of its inner beauty. The stone can be shaped into your basic round or into fancy ones such as the oval, marquise, pear, emerald, princess, asscher, radiant, heart or triangle.

The artisan creates facets as they shape the diamond. The facets are flat faces that reflect light off of each other, creating the sparkle that women love, which jewelers call brilliance. If you’re lady is one who looks for brilliance, check out the round, princess or radiant pieces.

As the artisan shapes the stone, his skill shows the quality of the gem. A truly skilled artist will bring out the true beauty of the piece with precision and careful crafting. The highest grade given is ideal. Next is very good then good then fair and lastly poor. The difference in the grades translates to thousands. Unless you are filthy rich, you can actually select a stone ranked good that will look as beautiful as an ideal to your lady; the difference after all isn’t visible to the naked eye.

Next C is Clarity. Every diamond has imperfections. Imperfections are called inclusions if they are within the stone and blemishes if they are on the outside. The fewer imperfections there are in the stone, the higher its grade. The rarest are the flawless (FL) diamonds which have no imperfections whatsoever. Aside from flawless diamonds can be internally flawless (IF), very, very slightly imperfect (VVS-1 or VVS-2), very slightly imperfect (VS-1 or VS-2), Slightly Imperfect (S-1 to S-2) down to imperfect (I-1 to I-3).

To see the imperfections, you need to use a 10x loupe, a tool that your jeweler should have ready just for this purpose. Finding a gem without any imperfections is not only difficult, it’s expensive. You can get a VS-1 and save yourself a lot of money and still have a rock that your girl will love.

Most ladies like the pale colored diamonds, the kind they’ve always seen in the movies. Lately though, thanks to Hollywood celebrities, there is a demand for diamonds in pink, red, even blue. The real question here is: what would your lady like? Is she a traditionalist or a non-conformist or a fashionista? That may tell you what shade to get.

Generally speaking though, the more colorless the stone the more expensive it will be. Gemologists grade the color by letter, the highest being D. The differences in color of stones that are graded from D to H are barely noticeable to the naked eye. Again, you can have major savings from getting a lower grade.

Now, they say bigger is better. In diamonds, this may not always be true. Each diamond is weighed in a metric system called Carat - the 4th C, which is measured by 100 points. This is the least important of the 4C’s. No matter how big a stone is if it isn’t well cut, it will still be less beautiful and less valuable than a diamond of lower carat but better crafted and more brilliant. The most popular is still the one carat diamond. After all, not everybody needs to have a ring like Catherine Zeta-Jones’ 10 carat gem :-)
